Great Lakes Scrip
General Information |
What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase gift cards through the Great Lakes Scrip program, you’re purchasing gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip cards to purchase everyday items like food, clothing, and other essentials, as well as using them as gifts. With each purchase, you help Bierbaum PTO raise funds for various PTO sponsored activities and events at school.

How Does Scrip Work?
The Great Lakes Scrip Center purchases large amounts of gift cards from area grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the gift cards are purchased up front, participating retailers offer a substantial discount on the cards they offer through Scrip. Great Lakes Scrip Center passes on these discounts to Bierbaum PTO so that we can sell the gift cards AT FACE VALUE to you, and stil make money as a fundraising activity. Bierbaum PTO earns anywhere from 2 to 15 percent of the full value of each scrip card sold.
Scrip = No Hassle Fundraising
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. You produce revenue for Bierbaum simply by making regular household purchases you would normally make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased through the Scrip program. Scrip gift cards also make great gifts.
